NASO is a girls field hockey league that emphasizes sports fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork and healthy habits.
Girls in kindergarten through middle school who play field hockey with NASO compete at various levels of play year-round. NASO teams play in Anne Arundel County Maryland recreation leagues and in area tournaments.
The strength of NASO is the coaches who have considerable experience in coaching youth. NASO coaches have passed background checks conducted by Anne Arundel County and are trained and certified by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks as youth coaches. All of NASO’s officials, commissioners, coaches, players and parents are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct.
Students attending many of the area public, private and parochial schools play for NASO. These include the following public elementary schools: Annapolis, Eastport, Georgetown East, Hillsmere, Mills-Parole, Rolling Knolls, South Shore, Tyler Heights, and West Annapolis as well as Annapolis Middle and Wiley H. Bates Middle Schools. NASO is the primary recreation league feeder program for girls field hockey programs at Annapolis High School.
